इतिहास History
The Sri Meenakshi Temple Society was formed in 1977 and acquired a five-acre site south of Houston between 1976 and 1978. Its first permanent building was a Ganesha temple; the main shrine, designed by the sthapathi S. M. Ganapathy, received its Mahakumbhabhishekam in 1982.
Concerts by great Indian musicians, among them M. S. Subbulakshmi, helped to raise the funds. The rajagopuram and the corner shrines were completed in 1995, and the original Ganesha temple was rebuilt in 2013.
