History
Construction began in 1988 on Cipriano Road in Lanham, about a mile from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and went on in stages until the last deity was consecrated in 2002. The design draws on the Pallava, Chola and Vijayanagara traditions.
Its presiding deities follow two great South Indian icons: Shiva as Ramanathaswamy of Rameswaram and Vishnu as Ananthapadmanabha of Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is now raising funds for a Jeernodharana Kumbhabhishekam, its renewal and reconsecration, planned for 2027.
